BEFORE YOU START
Confirm the exact TV and audio-device models. HDMI ARC requires an ARC-labelled HDMI port on both sides; optical carries digital audio but usually handles volume differently.
Steps
- 1
For HDMI ARC, use the labelled ARC/eARC port and enable HDMI-CEC plus ARC in the TV menu.
- 2
For optical, remove protective caps, seat the cable gently and choose optical input on the audio device.
- 3
Set the TV digital format to PCM for the first test; change formats only after basic sound works.
- 4
Test TV apps and one external source because their audio settings may differ.
- 5
Confirm whether the TV remote changes the audio device, the TV output level, or neither; document the working path.
Check if the result differs
If there is no sound, check the selected input, TV audio output, PCM setting, cable seating and mute. Do not assume every HDMI port supports ARC.
Sources and evidence
Use the exact product manuals and manufacturer pages for the models involved. SPL Hub interface is reserved but not connected; no local test or user feedback is presented as verified evidence.
