How to brief an AV project partner

BEFORE YOU START

Do not begin with a brand list alone. Describe the space, users, operating hours, maintenance expectations and constraints.

Steps

State the space use and emirate, then attach a plan or marked photos.

List the number of zones, listener capacity and whether zones play independently or together.

List existing equipment, sources and required interfaces such as HDMI ARC, optical, USB, Bluetooth or network streaming.

Describe control: wall panel, remote, phone, tablet, central system or staff-only access.

Provide interested brands, quantity range, target timing and who will install and maintain the system.

Check if the result differs

Make the plan usable at home

For a majlis or shared living room, choose who controls playback and volume, where the controls stay, and what guests may access. For several rooms, record which zones need the same music and which need independent playback. Test the agreed routine with the people who will use it before expanding the system.
